At Wiegers Financial & Benefits, we specialize in financial planning, group benefits, and group retirement consulting. However, we also dedicate ourselves to creating a positive impact in the communities we call home. Community drives everything we do, and this holiday season, we’re stepping up once again to support a cause that’s close to our hearts: supporting Saskatoon kids.

How to “Sock” It to the Holidays While Supporting Saskatoon Kids

We are excited to announce our participation in the 2024 T.L.C.@Home campaign, a heartwarming initiative that brings joy and support to Saskatoon children in need. Just like last year, we’re teaming up with amazing local organizations such as Hairstyle Inn Salons Saskatoon, Global TV, Cruz FM, Trusted Saskatoon, Trusted Marketing Services, and West Portal Church. Together, we’re working to brighten the holidays for over 1,000 children.

But here’s the best part: we’re donating 600 pairs of socks! And these aren’t just any socks. They’re made possible through a partnership with Sock Rocket, a family-run business with a mission to give back. For every pair sold, Sock Rocket donates three pairs to those in need. This means that one sale results in three pairs of warm, cozy socks – the importance of which in Saskatchewan winters is clear. To date, Sock Rocket has donated more than 500,000 pairs across Canada to dozens of important community organizations. This includes Saskatoon’s beloved T.L.C.@Home.

T.L.C.@Home: Bringing Joy and Hope to Saskatoon Kids

T.L.C.@Home Support Saskatoon KidsThe T.L.C.@Home program delivers personalized gift packages to children at inner-city schools in Saskatoon. These thoughtful packages are filled with items that provide comfort and warmth, serving as a heartfelt reminder that these kids are cared for and valued. Each gift aims to inspire joy and hope, especially during the holiday season.

We are honoured to have helped deliver hundreds of these gift packages to children in school over two weekday mornings this holiday season. We sent three of our team members – Erin Tenetuik, Courtney Edmison, and Randi Wiegers – to join Shelley in making a difference in these children’s lives, and it’s an experience they won’t soon forget. The experience helps further solidify our commitment to community.

“Participating in TLC@Home for the first time alongside Erin and Randi was an incredible experience—I couldn’t have asked for a better team to help bring smiles to little ones’ faces. Over the course of two days, we visited Howard Coad and St. Mark’s schools to deliver gift bags to more than 600 children who might not otherwise experience the joy of opening a gift on Christmas morning.

Each and every child was so thankful and appreciative of their gift, which made the experience even more heartwarming. A huge shoutout goes to Shelley and Laddie of Hairstyle Inn for their remarkable efforts. From packing and individually labeling each gift bag to boxing them by classroom and ensuring everything was delivered on the morning of the event, their dedication was truly inspiring.

Building community is one of our core values, and it’s one I hold most dear. This experience was a perfect example of how small acts of kindness can make a big impact during the holiday season.”-Courtney EdmisonT.L.C.@Home Delivering Gift Packages
